Troubleshooting and recovery
Resolve missing records, scan errors, permissions, export issues and saved-data startup errors.
A record or total is missing
First clear search/status filters and check the country and tax year. Check whether the record is personal, unassigned or awaiting review. For a difference between devices, confirm the same Apple account, network access and available iCloud storage. Do not recreate a receipt until you know it is missing rather than filtered out.
Scanning or importing fails
Check camera access, use a readable image and make sure cloud files have downloaded. You can enter an expense manually while retaining its evidence. Free-plan limits are checked when you start creating or importing a record; scanned and manual receipts share the receipt limit, while recorded recurring expenses have their own limit.
Mileage, reminders or exports fail
For mileage, check location permissions, unfinished trips and vehicle selection. Review the recorded distance after a GPS interruption. For reminders, check completion state, reminder time, notifications and Focus. For exports, confirm Pro is active for real records, the chosen period is correct and there is room to save the file. Open an export to verify it before forwarding it.
The app cannot open saved data
Read the startup error rather than assuming the database is empty. Use the available retry/recovery controls only after preserving the current records and understanding the message. If the app offers a backup candidate, inspect its date and consider what newer unsynced work it might replace. Do not delete app storage or uninstall to make the error disappear; ask support with the error text first.
