Tax & exports
Choose tax report options
Understand vehicle methods, purchase-tax recovery and why a deduction subtotal can differ from spending.
Open and review the options
- In Tax Center, select the country/year and open Tax report options.
- Read the country and tax year at the top. Choices are saved for that specific report context.
- Review the question for each vehicle. Choose accountant review when you have not confirmed eligibility.
- Review purchase-tax treatment and any additional country-specific controls. Close with Done after checking the displayed explanation.
Vehicle methods
Where offered, Let my accountant check includes the records for review rather than claiming that the app has established the deduction. Use my business miles uses logged business distance with the published schedule. Use fuel, repairs and other vehicle costs follows the available expense method. Choices differ by country and can include limits or additional distance/fuel controls.
Purchase-tax treatment
VAT, GST/HST and other purchase tax may need different treatment depending on registration, recoverability and the records you hold. Read the question and explanation in your country’s options. Select a confirmed treatment; do not infer eligibility from the presence of a tax amount on a receipt.
Understand changed totals
These options change computed report figures and exports. They do not overwrite the raw amounts or distances in your saved receipts and trips. The spending total, calculated deduction subtotal and mileage estimate can therefore differ. Review amounts excluded pending tax review and resolve their records before relying on a subtotal.
Recheck each year
Review settings for a new tax year or a new vehicle. Keep your accountant informed of which method you selected. Changing a custom Mileage Rate for job budgeting does not change the published rates and annual limits applied here.
